‘Hysteria, Hypnotism, and Art of the Fin de Siècle:
The Raising of the Unconscious’
Speaker: Lindsay Wells
Saturday 17 November 2018 2.30 - 5 pm

In this talk, with a full PowerPoint display, Lindsay Wells explores the cultural, artistic, and scientific environment of the ‘Fin de Siècle’ of 1900, which marked the publication of Freud’s ‘The Interpretation of Dreams’, and when dreams, the imagination, and the unconscious were finding a new, creative and clinical, significance.
Lindsay Wells is an experienced psychoanalytic psychotherapist, supervisor, and teacher. In June 2016, Karnac Books published his novel (written under the pen-name of William Rose) ‘The Strange Case of Madeleine Seguin’, which is set in the period and environment described above.
